“Don’t concern yourself with superficial appearances, does a flower think about how it should bloom? Doesn’t it just simply reach out to us and offer all it has to share.” - Kazuo Ohno
Flowers of Ruin is a dare to dance in the stormy weather of our lives. It is about living in the present moment and the power of now. What does it mean to look back? To leave, and to keep going? Made with the personal stories of the performers. We trace through their histories, childhood, regrets, joys, and dance in the Flowers of Ruin.
Choreographer Kenny Wing Tao Ho was invited to lead an international residency creation with ten professional dancers from China over a period of four weeks. Flowers of Ruin was the result of this commission by Xie Xin for The Greater Bay Area Dance Festival.
